Description
This organic, low-intervention wine has a deep ruby colour with aromas and flavours of luscious black fruit and cherries with a hint of sweet spice and liquorice. The finish is long, accentuated by silky tannins.
This wine is the result of a project set up in 2011 by friends, Daniel Orsilini a wine merchant, Thierry Pommet a sommelier, and Claude Serra a winemaker. Le Plan des Moines is based in Saint Rémy de Provence, with small amounts of wines made from grapes from various key appellations along the Rhône river valley. These organic, low-intervention wines are largely unoaked – unusual for wines in this region – which brings freshness and originality.
This wine is a fantastic accompaniment to a lamb rack or roast or grilled beef. It’s also excellent with strong cheese.
