Description
Domaine Berthet-Rayne is a fourth generation family estate of 29 hectares in the Chateauneuf du Pape and Cote du Rhone. Originally, only producing wines to be sold in France, in 1995 the estate began exporting wines to Europe and then to America. The Domaine is located mainly on the left side of the Rhone on chalk/clay soil. The soil is cultivated and ploughed in an environmentally friendly farming method ; the vines are treated in a natural way with specially adapted tools and all the grapes are harvested and sorted by hand to ensure maximum quality.
Produced from a blend of Grenache, Syrah, Mouvedre and Cinsault, following a light pressing and destalking, fermentation takes place in concrete tanks with automatically controlled temperatures, then aged in stainless steel for 24 months. The result is an elegant wine with a colour of deep crimson and wonderful aromas on the nose of ripe red fruits with flavours of concentrated black cherry and strawberries. Full bodied with some notes of spice on the long and satisfying finish. This wine has the potential to age for several more years.
Perfect accompaniment for Lamb, Beef, Rich Casseroles and Mature Blue Cheeses.
