Description
La Mascaronne is located on sloping vineyards which extend to 60 hectares and lie in the heart of the Côtes de Provence appellation, in the hills above the medieval village of Le Luc. The vines grow on chalk/clay soil resting above sedimentary fissured limestone. The terroir of La Mascaronne has always been renowned for producing some of the finest and longest lived red wines of the region – complex, powerful with supple dark fruit. Tom Bove has been the General Manager of La Mascaronne since 1999 and has long been recognised as an innovative winemaker. With remarkably low yields and hand harvesting into small containers, sustainability is practised in all aspects of the vineyard management and winemaking processes. Having achieved full organic status, respect for the environment and balance of the entire ecosystem is paramount.
This is a beautiful blend of Grenache, Cinsault, Syrah, Vermentino and Mouvedre with an exquisite pale salmon colour. The complex aromas are of peach, pear with some citrus and grapefruit. The wine is crisp and refreshing with some floral, stone fruit and mineral notes with an elegant dry finish. Can be drunk young on its own but, unusual for a Rose, will be exceptional after several years of aging!!
This delicious Provence Rose is perfect on its own but can be served with Shellfish, White Fish or Soft Creamy Cheeses.
