Description
The Baigorria family has been involved in Mendoza’s wine industry since 1960; first with the purchase of their own vineyards and later, in 2004, with their own winery. Located in the picturesque town of San Roque, Maipu, the winery was retrofitted from an old glass tile factory – combining new technology with traditional wine making techniques. Mi Terruño, meaning “my terroir”, is managed by the brother-sister duo of commercial director, Gabriel Baigorria, and winemaker, Maria Eugenia Baigorria. Under Maria Eugenia’s guidance the Mi Terruño wines are driven by the unique expression of their own terroir and embodies their most important treasure, the grapes.
Produced from 100% Malbec Grapes grown in Mendoza’s Maipu Valley the grapes, ripened from the dry continental climate are harvested by hand at the end of March. After arrival at the Winery the grapes are de-stemmed and lightly crushed prior to cold maceration to extract colour and fruit aromas avoiding heavy tannins. Fermented in stainless steel between 25-29 degrees where malolactic fermentation takes place. A fifth of the wine is aged in American Oak Barrels. The resulting wine has lovely fine aromas of red fruits with a herbal undertone. The palate is also generous with fruit flavours with smooth silky tannins and a lovely well balanced finish.
A great accompaniment to any Red Meat or Mature Cheeses.
