Description
António Maçanita, Filipe Rocha and Insula Vinus, Lda created the Azores Wine Company in 2014 after meeting in 2010 and being brought together with a profound passion for wine and gastronomy. On Pico Island with its extreme conditions, close to the see and vines planted on stone and volcanic soil. They began winemaking work with the Terrantez do Pico grape which is unique and almost extinct. With a small production of wine from this grape, the wine was made available in several counties and to some of the best wine shops and restaurant. Deeply committed to culture and grape varieties, winemaking is based on a minimum intervention process, supported by science, but always leading intuition to assume control when necessary.
Harvested and selected manually, fermentation is in Stainless Steel Tanks this Volcanic Red Wine is fresh and elegant with aromas and flavours of fresh cherry with notes of salt and peppery spices. Lovely fine tannins with a balanced minerality to the finish.
Lovely with Red Meat but also with well seasoned Poultry, Meaty Fish or Soft Blue Cheeses.
