Description
Having worked vintages in Champagne, Priorat and the Rhone and cutting his teeth at the Swartland winery Lammershoek, Albert Ahrens is now producing wines under ‘The Ahrens Family Wines’ label.
Semillon is viewed as a heritage grape and possibly one of the oldest varieties planted in South Africa. This is a wonderfully pure expression of Semillon with complex aromas developing as the wine opens up. Lime and green apple with a layer of honey. The palate is fresh and bright showing an elegant balance of Citrus, Grapefruit and Melon with well integrated minerality and a delightful lingering finish.
This is an exceptionally rare wine with a total production of 593 bottles. For this vintage, The Wine Shed was granted a total allocation of 24 bottles. Each bottle is individually numbered. Best drinking 2018 to 2025.
Pairs beautifully with Parma Ham, Salmon, Asparagus, Goats Cheese and Paellas.
