Description
Having worked vintages in Champagne, Priorat and the Rhone and cutting his teeth at the Swartland winery Lammershoek, is now producing wines under ‘The Ahrens Family Wines’ label.
Bendewijn is Albert Ahrens new range of rare, sometimes one-off, small parcel wines, amazingly beautiful in their simple, rustic presentation. After a gentle pressing, the free run juice is fermented and raised in old smaller format barrels, with minimal extraction. Post ageing, the wine is naturally settled and bottled with minimal sulphite. These bottles are then capped and held onto for further ageing. A most impressive Cinsault with notes of Plums, Strawberry, Forrest Fruits with a hint of pepper.
This wine is extremely rare with a total production of 487 bottles. For this vintage, The Wine Shed was allocated 12 bottles. Each bottle is individually numbered. Best drinking 2019 -2027.
A perfect accompaniment to Pizza, Braised and Roasted Meat dishes, Cheese, Thai Curry.
