Description
Alella is a small, little-known wine district in Catalonia, north-eastern Spain. It centres around the village of the same name, on the Mediterranean coast just a few miles from the eastern edge of Barcelona. Alella wines are mainly whites, but robust reds and fruit-driven rosés also feature. This wine region is over 2,000 years old, and with a native grape variety that can only be found in these 300 hectares. A sandstone terroir, low in nutrients makes for a refreshing acidity, depth and the fantastic maturity indicative of the Pansa Blanca grape; a variety especially suited for aging. The grapes are selected by hand, pressed whole and fermented at a low temperature in order to maintain the fruits properties. Where possible, each vineyard is pressed separately.
This is an interesting wine produced from Xarel-lo (Pansa Blanca ), true aromas of apricot, pineapple and lemon peel with a hint of brioche forward to flavours of tropical fruits and citrus. With a balanced acidity, the finish is long and a pleasure.
This wine is lovely on its own but try with some Seafood Pasta or Tapas.
