Description
Quinta da Costa do Pinhão is a vineyard property that has been in the same family for more than 6 generations, traditionally growing grapes for Port wine. The shift towards making table wines came in 2014 when Miguel Morais rebuilt and re-equipped the old winery. Now he is producing a range of wines including this red which is made from grapes from a block of organically-farmed, 35-45 year old vineyards.
This superb organic wine, made from the quintessential black grape varieties of Portugal, has flavours of ripe red and forest fruits and plums with hints of spice – in particular cloves – and a nuance of black pepper. It is matured in French oak barrels for 12 months.
This wine pairs extremely well with all red meats, from grilled to casseroled.
