Carlo Venturini and his wife Alessandra Zantedeschi both come from winegrowing families and struck out on their own to buy property in 1995. It was named Monte Dall’Ora after the hill on which it sits, in Castelrotto in the southeastern part of the Valpolicella Classico zone, not far from Verona or the Adige River that flows down from the mountains just to the north.
50% Corvina/20% Corvinone/ 20% Rondinella/10% Molinara & Oseleta. Saseti is named for the “little stones” found in the limestone soils of the terraced estate vineyard. The 25-year-old vines are biodynamically farmed. The fruit is destemmed and gently pressed; spontaneous fermentation takes place with native yeasts and without sulfur in concrete and steel tanks. Maceration last a week or less, with periodic manual punch-downs. The wine is aged in tank for about 3 months and then bottled without filtration and with a small amount of sulfur in February after the harvest.
A Perfumed, mid-weight red with lots of red fruit and a fantastic amount of complexity.
