Description
This superb wine from the heart of Burgundy has aromas and flavours of ripe citrus fruit with hints of flowers and minerality, underpinned by butter and brioche with touches of almonds and hazelnuts. Maturation in oak for 12 months contributes to a full yet delicate finish.
Owned by Gabriel Fournier, and joined in 2016 by his son Vincent, marking the fifth generation of the family in the business, the Domaine de la Galopière covers 10.5 hectares with vineyards throughout the Côte de Beaune. This wine, however, comes from their plots within Meursault appellation where Chardonnay reigns supreme, with evidence of vines being planted by the monks of Cîteaux as early as 1098.
This is truly a wine to savour.
This wine can be paired with a range of dishes including poultry, but it is best drunk with all kinds of fish, particularly those in a cream sauce: it also goes well with creamy cheeses.
