Description
The Merayo family has always been strongly linked to the world of wine and they have owned one of the most important wineries in the Bierzo region of Spain for decades. In the late 1980′s, Pedro Merayo decided to take time off from wine making to concentrate his efforts on the care and maintenance of the family vineyards. In 2010, he established Bodegas y Viñedos Merayos where the same dedication is given to the production of quality wines made from indigenous grape varieties.
As a part of their commitment to the environment, all the wines are crafted from their own grapes, following the concepts of sustainable agriculture/viticulture. Their winegrowing practices avoid the use of herbicides and invasive cultivation practices to ensure the health of the land and vines, and to maintain a rich, in diverse ecosystem.
This wine, made from the Godello grape which is often described as a cross between Sauvignon Blanc and Chardonnay, has been fermented in stainless steel tanks and aged ‘sur lie’ for four months.
This pale, clear wine has notes of green apple and stone fruit, with traces of citrus and fennel, underpinned by a subtle minerality. The palate is fresh, with an added dimension of smoothness from the ‘sur lie’ influence.
Enjoy this wine with chicken or pork either simply grilled or with rich creamy sauces.
