Description
In north-eastern Slovenia, bordering Austria and Hungary, Stajerska is a hilly, predominantly white wine area. Its location has a rich and varied history, with styles and varieties both of itself and of its neighbours. It is here that Matija Žerjav – known as Matic to his friends – farms nine hectares of old, organic family vineyards and makes wine in a cellar dating back to 1852. ‘Postopoma’ means “gradually progressive” in Slovenian which is exactly what this wine is. It is the result of taking a modern approach while respecting traditional methods.
From a single plot in the Angle Valley, the wine is a blend of Kerner and Riesling. After de-stemming, it has been macerated on skins for several weeks to develop an exciting colour, texture, and flavour profile. The colour is a lovely orange with a cloudiness du to the natural element. The aromas are of orange blossom, apricot and honey. Smooth and light on the palette with zingy citrus notes and a note of acidity on the finish.
Lovely with Seafood, Shellfish but also great with Lamb and Roasted Vegetables
