Description
Chateau La Tour de Mons is a single block vineyard, surrounded by a wall and located in the northern part of the Margaux appellation near the banks of the Garonne. The vineyard lies on Garonne gravel and limestone-clay. The average age of the vines is 30 years old, split between 56% Merlot, 38% Cabernet Sauvignon, and 6% Petit Verdot. The vineyards cover some 48 hectares. The grapes are hand harvested and undergo a rigorous selection at the winery. The various plots are vinified separately and aged for 12 months in French oak, 40% new, 60% one year old, prior to blending and assembling the final cuvee.
With elegant aromas of concentrated black fruits, the palate carries flavours of rich plum with a hint of chocolate. A good acidity with a lovely tannic structure, this wine is elegant right through to the lengthy finish.
Ideal with red meats and charcuterie.
