Guerrieri Rizzardi ‘Clos Roareti’ Rosso Veronese Merlot 2012

Description

The Guerrieri Rizzardi estate takes its name from two historically important families: the Guerrieri family has owned vineyards in Bardolino since the 15th century and the Rizzardi family in Negrar (Valpolicella) since the 17th century. At the beginning of the last century, a “new” family estate emerged from the marriage of Count Carlo Rizzardi and Countess The Estate is farmed organically although it is not certified by choice,  the family believe that as they have worked in a responsible biological way for generations, a Certification is not necessary as their customers know their sense of responsibility to the land and nature.

Made from grapes harvested from vines planted in the 1990s in a 100-year-old walled vineyard, Clos Roareti is made only in those years when the grapes are of the highest quality, thus maintaining the excellent standard of this wine. This wine has all the characteristics you would expect from a top-quality Merlot: it is well balanced, with notes of dark cherry, tobacco, spice and oak, full bodied, rich and luxurious with good balance and complexity.

Decant and serve at 16° C with roasted game or red meats such as rack of lamb or fillet mignon.
