The Studio Wine Company (Gem’s parent company) was established in 2005 in the Auckland area by Corey and Megan Hall. Their structure involves selecting small parcels of fruit from the best vineyard sites throughout New Zealand and bringing them to the historic old Pleasant Valley winery in West Auckland for vinification. Corey, who handles the winemaking, spends significant amounts of time in the vineyards and winery to ensure he get the results he wants at every stage of the process. Meg, his wife, handles marketing and administration.
Grown in the Rapaura district of the Wairau Valley the grapes for this wine were harvested in outstanding condition, then pressed and fermented completely dry. After approximately 12 months on lees an ideal palate balance was achieved. The wine was then bottled and left to condition until its release. This Sauvignon Blanc will develop well for the next 6-8 years prior to the onset of more complex characters.
Vibrant yet subtle with aromas of Citrus and Green Fruits a hint of Blossom followed through with Passion Fruit, Gooseberry, Guava and Lemon flavours on the palate. The finish has amazing texture, depth and length.
Exceptional with Langoustine, Lobster, Oysters, White Seafood, Goats Cheese.
