Description
Jochen Dreissigacker has 45 hectares of vineyards in the Rheinhessen, all of the wines are certified organic, and from 2019, Jochen also started following biodynamic principles in order to create the optimal conditions for the grapes to thrive – an approach that he describes as “a long-term investment in nature and wines”. He reduced the yields in the vineyard by creating a much healthier soil, which in turn was lower in vigour. “The path to any truly great wine is to limit the amount of grapes that are allowed to ripen,” says Jochen.
This wonderful Spatburgunder is 100% Pinot Noir, hand picked and destemmed then fermented in large oak barrels for 3 weeks. Aged in French and Austrian barrels, 1/3 new and 2/3 old, for two years on fine lees. A wonderful ruby red colour with a nose bursting with cherries, strawberry and spices, the palate is structured and elegant with velvety tannins and a lovely length on the finish.
Perfectly pairs with Beef, Lamb, Risotto, and Mature Cheeses.
