Description

Domaine Richard Rottiers is located in Romaneche-Thorins and was created in 2007 with 3 hectares of vineyards all between 40 and 80 years old,  centered around the Moulin-a-Vent area on pink granite soils.  After training in regions such as Chablis, California, South Africa, New Zealand, Richard Rottiers has gained the experiece and tecnique of vineyard management and production of fbest quality wine.   Today with 5 hectares the vineyard is organic having started that process in 2012.  Through the farming process,  focus is on the soil as well as the environment in order to harvest grapes that are disease-free and at the right maturity.  The spread of vine diseases is avoided with the practice of organic farming using  compost tea and liquid plant manure along with small doses of copper and sulfur,   the grapes are hand-picked and carefully sorted in the vineyards so that only the best of the crop is kept.

This Beaujolais Villages has a short vinification period of only 7 – 9 days with semi-carbonic maceration in concrete then aged for 4 -c 6 months in wooden vats and barrels to smooth out the tannins.  Typical of the local terroir, this wine is fruity and spicy with aromas of strawberries, cherries and plum.  The palate is smooth and silky with flavours again of strawberry and cherry with a kick of pepper and clove.  Elegant and refined to the finish.
