Description
Domaine Jean-Francois Bachelet is located in Dezize-les-Maranges, close to Santenay. With over 15v hectares of vineyards, Jean-Francois is now assisted by his two sons Marc and Alex. Following in their fathers footsteps, they share the same values and respect as their father for the land and terroir. Both have gained invaluable experience from well-known properties in Burgundy, the Côtes du Rhône and as far as Australia, the family tend their vines with extreme care; assiduously working the soil and opting for green pruning and hand harvesting.
This beautiful wine is produced from 100% Pinot Noir. The grapes are picked by hand with meticulous selection. Total destemming and cold maceration for 5-8 days. Controlled fermentation at 26-32°C for around ten days. The wine is aged in oak barrels, of which 30% are new. The result is a dark ruby red colour with enticing aromas of rose-petal, violet, red fruits and liquorice which lead to a well constructed palate of rich fruit with a well balanced acidity and smooth tannins. An elegant and long finish completes the experience. This wine can be drunk young but has an ageing potential of up to 10 years.
Perfect with Roast Beef, Roast Lamb, Venison, or Rich Poultry dish such as Coq au Vin.
