Description
Franschhoek Valley is one of the oldest winegrowing areas of South Africa. Black Elephant Vintners was founded by three friends, Kevin Swart, Raymond Ndlovu and winemaker Jacques Wentzel whose goal was to bring fun into serious winemaking and produce quality wines for all lovers of wine. As producers, Black Elephant Vintners focuses on identifying and procuring quality estate-grown grapes cultivated within the Franschhoek Valley and surrounding regions from which it produces and crafts quality wines.
Produced from 100% Semillon, the fruit is handpicked and chilled overnight in a cold temperature. They are then destemmed without crushing and left to macerate on the skins for 24 hours before pressing. The juice is fermented in old French oak barrels for 6 weeks at temperatures 18 – 24 degrees. The wine matures for 12 months in barrel prior to bottling. This wine is intense and aromatic with aromas of lemon, lime zest, peach and tangerine with notes of dried herbs. The palate is full with concentrated flavours leading to a beautiful acidity which carries onto the sublime finish with lingering notes of tropical fruits and citrus.
This exceptional wine is perfect served with Lobster, Crab, Langoustine, Grilled Salmon, Hard Cheeses.
