Description

Otto and Elena Dal Zotto emigrated from Valdobbiadene in 1967, settling down in the King Valley, a few hours’ drive north of Melbourne. Here in the foothills of the relatively cool Victorian Alps, they grew tobacco before turning to vines in 1987. Beginning in the 1990s, Otto introduced the traditional grapes of his Italian homeland, which remain the cornerstones of their range today. Dal Zotto was the pioneer of Australian Prosecco too, making the sparkling wine long before Italian authorities changed the name of the grape to Glera and clamped down on foreign imitations.  Now their sons Michael and Christian are in charge of a stunning range of wines, including this, only their second vintage of Garganega, the famous grape of Soave.

Harvested in April, the grapes are sourced from one of the King Valleys oldest sites, Koombalah.  Fermented for 10 – 14 days then racked.  A third is held in French Oak for 3 months 50% new, 50% old barrels.  This 100% Garganega is crisp and vibrant with a lovely pale lemon cola and aromas of peach and melon leading to flavours of delicious ripe apple and nectarine with a twist of lemon.  A lovely nutty texture from the time spent on oak with a well balanced lingering finish.

Perfect with Grilled Fish, Poultry or Pork, Cheese and Charcuterie.
