Description

Clos Rocailleux is in rural South West France in the Commune of Andillac with 16 hectares (40 acres) of land on a limestone plateau about 300 meters above sea-level. The vines cover 7.5 hectares (18 acres) in 9 separate parcels.  Each parcel of vines has a slightly different aspect, soil (predominantly stony, well drained clay and limestone) and a micro-climate.   The grapes grown here are Duras, Braucol, Syrah, Mauzac and Loin de L’Oeil.   Loin de L’Oeil (or Len de l’El) is a white French wine grape variety native to South West France, and is now quite rare. The low yield of this vineyard is gently pressed and then fermented in stainless steel to give a good balance of tropical fruit and acidity. Only a few hundred bottles of this wine are produced each year.

Perfect as an apéritif or with salads and light Asian-style dishes.
