Description
The Christoph Bauer Winery is located north of Vienna, in the region of Weinviertel. After attending viticulture school in Klosterneuburg, Christoph moved abroad and took on internships in South Tyrol, South Africa and Australia. After returning to Austria, he managed the wine at a large Wine dealer as well as the Weinviertel Wine Route for several years. A family run Winery, Christoph manages the vineyard and cellars whilst his wife Heidi is responsible for organisation and marketing. The vineyard has been farmed organically since 2015.
Produced from 100% Zweigelt this is a deep ruby colour with intense aromas of wild berries, liquorice and black pepper. Round and juicy, the palate is flavoursome with subtle tannins and a long and satisfying finish.
This wine pairs well with red meats, duck, and, surprisingly for a red wine, shellfish, especially those accompanied by a tomato sauce.
