Description
Pomerol is one of Bordeaux’s finest red wines and undoubtedly one of the most exceptional wines in the world. Due to the appellation’s small area, approximately 800 hectares, with its gravelly, sandy soil which lies above a sub soil of sandstone. The wines of Château Haut Ferrand are produced by vines planted on the southern slopes of the Pomerol plateau on an amalgamation of several plots of land purchased from 1970 onwards, situated in the vicinity of Pomerol Church.
Produced from 80% Merlot and 20% Cabernet Franc, and matured for a period of eighteen months in oak barrels, a third of which are renewed each year, Château Haut-Ferrand is a full, well-rounded wine, deep garnet in colour with aromas of blackberry, dark cherries smoke and pepper leading to flavours of blackberry jam, herbs and chocolate. Beautiful smooth tannins with a well structured lingering finish. This wine has the potential to age further.
Delicious served with Beef, Lamb, Game or with Matured Cheeses.
