Description
This organic wine has everything you would expect from a top-quality Premier Cru Pinot Noir from the heart of Burgundy: aromas and flavours of concentrated, luscious, ripe red fruits – strawberry, raspberry and ripe cherry – with a fine, balanced composition.
François Lequin, who now runs the vineyard, describes his ‘Morgeot’ rouge as ‘fresh, juicy, long and structured.’ Who are we to argue!
François, who is the latest in a long family line of Burgundian producers dating back to 1679, is meticulous in his stewardship of the vineyards and winery. The estate was certified organic in 2009 which is testament to the value that is placed on the whole of the growing and production process. And in 2010, François started farming biodynamically, utilizing contemporary methods while respecting the tradition that has been passed down through generations.
Incidentally, his ‘Morgeot’ comes from a commune that is better known today for Chardonnay rather than Pinot Noir, but historically, the site was more famous for red wine.
This wine is a perfect accompaniment to red meat, feathered game and hard cheese.
