Description

The Cavallotto family has owned the estate Tenuta Bricco Boschis since 1928, when Giacomo Cavallotto acquired it, although it has a much longer history. Back in the 18th century the Estate, then known as Monte della Guardia, was the property of the Countess Juliette Colbert. The current name is from Giuseppe Boschis, the vineyard manager of the Countess’ estates, who inherited the land from her.

In 1946, Giacomo’s grandsons, Olivio and Gildo, were the first growers in Castiglione Falletto to vinify all of their estate’s fruit – unusual for the time – and in 1948 they released the first bottling of their own Barolo wine.

Today the children of Olivio – Laura, Giuseppe and Alfio, the 4th generation working the family farm – continue to exclusively vinify the grapes produced in their estate vineyards, which are run according to an integrated farming concept that includes the use of strict organic farming practices.

Barolo Bricco Boschis 2013 shows all the characteristics of this cool, classic growing season from the first perfumes to the finish. The nose is floral, with rose, violet and hibiscus elements framing dark cherry and raspberry notes. In the mouth, the calm, linear mouthfeel allows all the wines complex characteristics of reveal themselves: ripe, fresh cherries, liquorice, mineral notes, sweet tannins and a long, precise and fresh finish.

Barolo Bricco Boschis 2013 was fermented with indigenous yeasts and was aged in oak before being bottled in August 2017; after bottling it was held for 6 months before release into the market.

The wine is best with red meat, simply grilled or roasted. It is also good with hard and aged cheeses.
