Description

Created by first generation wine maker Janos Bolyki, who inherited a stone quarry from his grandfather, which he turned into a winery in 2003. He produces an exclusive range of red and white wines full of character. The Bolyki Winery is in a very special location: Wines are stored under the arches of the old tufa quarry in the Losonczy Valley of the Eger region. The old quarry still shapes the landscape but has beautifully blended into it and creates a one-of-a-kind atmosphere for wine tastings.  An agricultural engineer himself, Jani made his first wine in 2003, and his first ever “Bull’s Blood” Egri Bikaver achieved a prestigious Silver in 2006 in Bordeaux.

This Bulls Blood has been fermented and aged in 500 litre oak barrels strictly adhering to the prerequisites of Bulls Blood making processes.

A superb blend of varieties with a complex mix of flavours,  the Wine is an attractive, deep ruby colour with aromas of dark stewed fruit and a hint of chocolate. A rich, chewy palate with intense black pepper spice, followed by dark cherry and blackcurrant notes with a touch of vanilla.  All of this is balanced with soft smooth tannins and a lengthy finish.

This Wine cries out for Hungarian Goulash, Spicy Lamb Ragu, Beef Steak.
