Description

The Baigorria family has been involved in Mendoza’s wine industry since 1960; first with the purchase of their own vineyards and later, in 2004, with their own winery. Located in the picturesque town of San Roque, Maipu, the winery was retrofitted from an old glass tile factory – combining new technology with traditional wine making techniques.  Mi Terruño, meaning “my terroir”, is managed by the brother-sister duo of commercial director, Gabriel Baigorria, and winemaker, Maria Eugenia Baigorria. Under Maria Eugenia’s guidance the Mi Terruño wines are driven by the unique expression of their own terroir and embodies their most important treasure, the grapes.

The grapes are grown in the Perdriel and Lujan de Cuyo regions of Mendoza.  After handpicking the fruit is de-stemmed and crushed followed by a cold maceration in tank to ensure full fruit character and good depth of colour.  A 15 day fermentation in stainless steel tanks and  malolactic fermentation, the wine  was aged in french oak for 10 months.   Deep ruby red in colour with touches of violet, the aromas are complex with  ripe plum, raspberry and a hint of mocha.  The palate is bold but smooth with velvety tannins and a hint of nuttiness from the oak apparent in the lovely finish.

This wine cries  out for Chargrilled Meat, Strong Cheeses, Rich Stews.
