Description
In 1999, Telmo Rodriguez and Pablo Eguzkiza acquired an old Bodega in the Barrio de las Bodegas, Rioja Alavesa. They set out to learn how wine was produced in the 18th century. The century old walls preserves century old yeasts which continues to be used to ferment the grapes today. Lanzaga is the backbone of the project. Made only from a selection of the best grapes from these organic vineyards, Lanzaga brings together all the elements of the work, and respect of the place.
Produced using organic viticulture, concrete fermentation and aging in foudres and barrels of different sizes and origins, the result is wonderful varietal blend of Tempranillo, Graciano and Garnacha, with superb aromas of blackcurrants, liquorice, plums with hits of aromatic spices like nutmeg and cardamom. Elegant flavours of dark fruit oak and leather with some vanilla and pepper. With soft tannins the finish is smooth and velvety.
Exceptional and highly recommended to drink with with Game, Duck, Chorizo, Tapas, Mature Cheeses Spanish Charcuterie, Paella
