Description
Auntsfield was founded by David Herd in 1873. Grapes which have shared ancestry with David Herd’s original vineyard are still grown on the land today. The Auntsfield Estate was bought by the Cowley family in the early 1990s when it was still an unplanted cattle farm. They planted blocks of the property with Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay and Pinot Noir taking real care to select the best plots for each. They now have around 40 hectares planted on fantastic terroir which gives the wine a fine minerality with wonderful texture and definition. Auntsfield is a family business in every sense of the word, at the very heart of this, are Graeme and Linda’s sons – Ben and Luc Cowley. Both men are utterly passionate about the part they play in creating the exceptional wines made here at Auntsfield. Ben Cowley is General Manager and Viticulturist and Luc is the Winemaker.
Produced from 100% Sauvignon Blanc, the grapes are hand-harvested, whole bunch pressed and fermented in seasoned oak adding texture and length to the wine. Pale straw in appearance. Pure aromas of passionfruit, ripe citrus and lime leaf and notes of fresh herbs and gooseberry give this wine a superb intensity. White peach, passionfruit, and hints of lime and mandarin fill the palate. An intense, concentrated wine with an underlying minerality and tight structure.
A wonderful accompaniment to Seafood, Shellfish but also some Asian influenced dishes.
