Description
Armas de Guerra was founded in 1879 and is one of the oldest wineries in Spain. Armas de Guerra translates to ‘Weapons of War’ and is named after their yearly battle for maintenance of healthy vineyards. They focus on indigenous grape varieties of the region and show the utmost respect for the fruit, utilising the most natural and sustainable vineyard management possible. Armas de Guerra have stuck with tradition and produce only indigenous varietals, to remain in keeping with the style of the Bierzo region.
Produced from 100% Mencia which is the most famous grape grown in the Bierzo region, the free-run juice is drained at low temperature without previous maceration and under an inert atmosphere. Alcoholic fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks for 12 days at 12C. 100%. The resulting wine is a very pale pink with aromas of red berries and orange zest with hints of white pepper. Deep and rich flavours of redcurrant, clementine with a hint of spice and a crisp persistence on the finish.
Excellent with Seafood, Shellfish, light Pasta dishes and creamy cheeses.
